opc ua

OPC Unified Architecture “OPC UA” is an industrial communication standard dedicated to the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). It provides a flexible mechanism for information exchange between enterprise-type systems and the kind of controls, monitoring devices and sensors that interact with real world data.

Moreover, OPC UA is a platform independent service-oriented architecture that integrates all the functionality of the individual OPC Classic specifications into one extensible framework.

OPC UA Features

Features of OPC UA include:

  • Platform independence: OPC UA is platform independent. It can be supported on high-end servers and low-end sensors and from an embedded micro-controller to cloud-based infrastructure.
  • Security: encryption, authentication, and auditing
  • Extensibility: ability to add new features without affecting existing applications
  • Comprehensive information modeling: for defining complex information. The OPC UA address space is organized around the concept of an object. Objects are entities that consist of variables and methods and provide a standard way for servers to transfer information to clients.

If you are still using OPC Classic, there are solutions to ensure secure, open and reliable interoperability between OPC Classic and OPC UA. We propose the OPC UA Wrapper product for such applications.
